I would like to write more articles on technology.
Mostly my take on it or my experiences with it in my life.
This is not one of those articles.
I was arguing with someone recently.
This person disagreed with a statement I was asserting was true for all Humans.
Technology exposes us for who we are.
Their argument was
“It might expose YOU, Daniel, but not everyone.”
Now the example used in the discussion might have made it easy to make this assertion that THEY were making, (people sitting in a bar or restaurant, using their cell phones instead of talking to one another), that technology just exposes ME and not everyone equally necessarily.
People are people are people are People.
Technology must never be only looked at as the high tech devices in our hands, or the machines saving our lives, or the AI that we’re now talking collectively talking about as a society and not only in a sci-fi, Skynet sorta way. Technology is anything man uses to make his life easier. I can think of a dozen plus things that I take for granted in the technological sense before I’d even arrive at the establishment to have a drink or meal with someone.
So many words to say I feel he lost the point.
But that’s the problem. It’s hard for me to have discussions with people.
And it’s really not. I like to engage with people. Even though I basically got let go from a job I stupidly considered a Career; due to the B.S. corporate excuse of me lacking engagement. When in fact I usually love it. I wasn’t deficient there in any regards. I have bombs to drop but I need lawyers first. I digress…
I say technology and people hear ‘cellphone’ or ‘computer system’. I’m in IT and it’s a fair assumption to make. But come on. It’s 2017. People are getting upset people are assuming genders or sexual preference. I think it’s a little fair for me to be a little upset when people assume my technology.
